Do you feel like you’re not good enough most of the time?
Do you feel like there are other people out there that are better than you?
Do you feel like that, no matter what it is you think you can do, there will always be someone better than you?
No. Stop. Stop that right now.
You may not be good at the conventional things, or the things that apparently ”matter”, but that’s okay. You may not have a thigh gap, or you may not be sporty or athletic, you may be shit at maths, you may not be able to sing a single note, or you may not be able to talk to the one person that you want to be able to talk to, without sounding or looking like a puffa-fish on steroids, but that’s okay. You may have some incredible, slightly odd talents. You might be able to wiggle your eyebrows to the rhythm of any song, you might be amazing at giving gifts, or you might take really really good care of your cuticles. Or you might have these strange little habits that perhaps no one, including yourself has ever noticed, like the way your eyes change colour in the evening, or the way your smile is just a little crooked, or the way that you stretch in the morning, or the way that you bite your bottom lip when you’re completely mesmerised.
Society isn’t exactly sending this message, but I’m here to send it to you loud and clear:
The little things matter, the most bonkers, unorthodox things about you are the things that, one day, that someone will notice. They could be the only people that see it in you, or the only people that appreciate it, but they will notice your weird little quirks. And that’s all you need.
You are good. Now, I’m not saying that you are perfect, but you are still good. Great even. And being great, well that makes you flawless to someone.
